Kigali City

Kigali is Rwanda’s Capital city. This city is characterized by a moderate high altitude climate and also located within a 3 hours drive from Rwanda’s major tourist attraction which is Volcanoes National Park. Kigali is the country’s Transport center with the major Airport, Administrative center with different Administrative office bases, Political center with the Parliament, Communication center with major Radios and Television stations, Business center having the major commercial businesses  and accommodation center with places like Hotels, Lodges, Guest Houses, Inns, Motels which all range from luxury to very budget ones.

Kigali city is composed of 3 major districts and these are: Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge districts. As a matter of fact, Kigali also provides both a comfortable and welcoming introduction to the land of a thousand hills and an ideal springboard from which to explore the country.

In terms of the Population of the people in the city, it’s approximately one million people within it of which 60% are youth and the rest are elders. More still in terms of Gender, it is balancing since men and women are equal and each contributes 50% of the total population. Though it is the country’s capital city, 70% of its area is rural.

The major tourist attractions are the Genocide Memorial sites of Gisozi and the markets like Nyabugogo which is the largest in the country. There are also different shops like gift shops with cow bone jewelry, Rwandan batik and nesting baskets called agaseke.
