6 Days Rwanda Wildlife and Chimpanzee

Day 1, Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, tour, you will be transferred to Akagera National Park where you will reach in time for lunch. Upon reaching the Park, have lunch and in the afternoon go for the afternoon game drive to view some wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge for Luxury/Umbrella Hotel for Budget and mid range


Day 2, Game drive and boat ride

After breakfast, you will go for the early morning game drive with in Akagera National Park. Before sunrise, you can be able to spot different wildlife animals such as zebras, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffalo, warthog, and if you are lucky, you can be able to see the astray lion, spotted Hyena and the Leopard.  Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, depart for the boat ride on Lake Ihema. This will expose you to animals which are water loving such as the Hippos, crocodiles and the water loving birds. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park via Butare
After breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali and Butare which is the country’s second largest city. En route you will visit Nyanza which is presently called Nyabisindu to pay a visit to the former Mwami’s palace (King’s palace) and the base of the feudal kingdom. Butare is also known as Huye and it hosts the country’s cultural National Museum which is one of the best source of information on the country’s cultural history. Butare also hosts the National University of Rwanda, the Ruhande Arboretum, research institutions like the Rwandan National Institute of Scientific Research, and a cathedral plus botanical gardens. Have Lunch in Butare town and later transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guest House for Budget/Nyungwe Forest Lodge for Luxury

Day 4, Primates walk in Nyungwe
After breakfast, you will assemble at Uwinka tourist information centre for briefing before you start your hike in Nyungwe forest. The park hosts 25% of the African Primates. We recommend good hiking books for this day. En route you will encounter different species of the primates like Angolan Colobus, black and white Colobus and so many others. The hiking time is unpredictable because these primates move from time to time in search for shelter and food. Although some times the ranger guides may know where to find them. Have picnic lunch and in the afternoon go for the water fall walk which all offer good scenic views near Gisakura. Day 5, Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe
After breakfast, you will go for the chimp trek activity in the forest. You are advised to start on your journey at 5:00 am so that reach the area in time where the trek starts from. There are well maintained trails which will enable you access these chimps. En route you will see other different primate species like the L’hoest monkeys and blue monkeys. Upon encountering the chimps, observe their behaviors and how they play. (Enjoy the presence of these Man’s closes friends). Return for lunch and in the afternoon, join the canopy walk where you will see different bird species in the tree canopies. Day 6, Transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali City for your final shopping. Later depending on your flight, you will transfer to the Airport for the flight and fly out.
