7 Days Wildlife and Primates

Day 1, Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Early in the morning you will take breakfast and will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala to transfer you South Westwards to Lake Mburo National Park. En route you will have a stopover at Kayabwe for the Equator experiments and also get a chance to see the line that separates the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere. Proceed and reach Lake Mburo in time for lunch. Have lunch and in the afternoon, go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo. This will give you a chance to experience Uganda’s beauty and wildlife such as Hippos, Crocodiles and the bird species such as the rare shoe bill stork. Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Luxury tented camp for Luxury/ Arcadia Cottages for Mid range/ Rwonyo Campsite.

Day 2, Game drive and transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, you will indulge in the morning game drive where you will be able to see animals such as Zebras, Lions, Elephants, Kobs, Antelopes and Warthogs. Later return back to your lodge for refreshments and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. This Park is a home to over 13species of primates which include the Colobus monkeys, Chimpanzees, the blue mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons and so on.   Dinner and overnight stay at Chimp Nest or Kibale Forest camp for mid range/Chimpanzee guest house for budget/ Ndali Safari Lodge or Primates Lodge for Luxury.

Day 3, Chimp Trek and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will prepare for your morning chimp trek with in the forest. The briefing and the trek starts from Kanyachu the Park headquarters at 7:30am. While in the forest expect to encounter different primate species besides the chimps since the forest has 13 primate species. Expect to see the grey-cheeked mangabey and red-tailed monkey. Besides primates, there are also a lot of bird species in the forest. Once you come across the chimps, you will enjoy the company of these man’s closest friends. Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey en route will offer you with views of the great Mountains of the Moon and a game drive en route. This will expose you to different wildlife and bird species. Among the wildlife, look out for Lions, Elephants, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes, Warthogs, and a lot of Kobs. Dinner and overnight stay at Simba Safari Camp for Budget/ Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge for Mid range / Mweya Safari Lodge for Luxury

Day 4, Game drive and launch cruise
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in the park (Kasenyi area) and search for different wildlife such as Lions, Elephants, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes, Warthogs, and a lot of Kobs. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. The channel attracts a lot of wildlife and a lot of bird species. After the cruise, return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Simba Safari Camp for Budget/ Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge for Mid range / Mweya Safari Lodge for Luxury

Day 5, Chimpanzee tracking and Transfer to Bwindi
After breakfast, you will transfer to Kyambura gorge for Chimpanzee tracking. You will first go for the briefing at 7:45 am. Chimpanzees are one of the closest Man’s friends and seeing them is amazing. Your ranger will provide you with detailed information about the flora and fauna that you will encounter as well as primate on your way to the Gorge. Return back to the lodge for refreshments and later transfer to Bwindi National Park via Ishasha sector which is commonly known for its rare tree climbing lions. Later transfer to Bwindi where you will have dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Bandas or Wagtail Eco Safari Camp for Budget/ Nkuringo Gorilla Camp or Buhoma Lodge for Mid range / Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Resort or Gorilla Forest Camp for Luxury

Day 6, Bwindi Gorilla Trek
You will wake up very early in the morning for breakfast and transfer to your starting point for the Gorilla trek briefing which is made by the Uganda Wildlife Authority wardens. You are advised to travel with your lunch boxes and bottled water.  Your ranger guide will lead you to the forest and will guide you along the way about the flora and fauna existing in the forest until when you reach the Gorilla family allocated to you. The Mountain Gorillas are so extra ordinary and they are one of the most elating primate en counter in the world. There are currently only almost 700 still existing in the world and almost half of these Gorillas are found in Bwindi in Uganda. Depending on where the Gorillas were last night, the trek takes between 2 to 8 hours. However an encounter with these friendly primates will be so exciting and wonderful (Once a life time encounter and experience which is hard to forget). Their encounter will enable you to forget all the steep slopes and valleys you have gone through. After meeting them, you will return back to your lodge for relaxation, refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Community Bandas or Wagtail Eco Safari Camp for Budget/ Nkuringo Gorilla Camp or Buhoma Lodge for Mid range / Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Resort or Gorilla Forest Camp for Luxury

Day 7, Transfer to Kampala
After a morning breakfast, you will be transferred back to Kampala via Kabale commonly known region as the “Switzerland of Africa” Have lunch in Mbarara town and later proceed to Kampala. Drop off will be at your Hotel in Kampala.
